The Research and Design of Computer Forensics Archive - IT ...

Abstract URL:http://www.it-paper.com/the-research-and-design-of-computer-forensics-3.html

With the development of computer technology and the prevalent network, people are exposed to frequent occurrence of crimes committed by or aimed at computers. However, the politics and law institutions lack such necessary high-tech support to attain the most extensive electronic evidence of the computer-related crimes to penalize the offenders. In order to enhance the abilities of attacking computer-related offences, we need to conduct a profound study on the field of computer forensics, which is related to the computer forensics technology in question and requires not only the development of effective forensics tools, but also the research on its definition, standards, proceedings and some other basic theories. Computer forensics is a newly emerged interdisciplinary study encompassing subjects such as computer science, legal science and criminal scientific technology.Based on a relatively thorough literature review, this paper concludes the next points:1. The emergence, development, status and the prospective research of computer forensics.2. It also makes a comprehensive introduction of the basic concepts, relevant technology and theories, basic principles and practical tools, etc relating to the field of computer forensics.3. It designs and develops a computer synthetical forensics system based on the previous research made both at home and abroad. The system is divided into static electronic evidence collection and dynamic electronic evidence collection systems as regards the different timing of attaining the electronic evidence. The static electronic evidence collection system integrates a variety of forensics technology and it thoroughly extracts the disc information including the deleted files and the system information. Dynamic electronic evidence collection systems use monitor to get eynamic electronic evidence , get the second attack evidence.4. Based on finding the electronic evidence on computer , we can find the holes the computer has, and we will repair them . By the researching on weak password detect?s theoretics, This paper design a software system that can find the computer?s weak password.and scan the CGI?s hole.

Massage Hypertension | Diet-Fitness-Health-Healthy Aging

medicalmassage-edu.com To purchase The DVD please click the link above Causes of Hypertension. Medical massage therapy is a soft tissue mobilization method. Several factors explain its physiological effects. Medical massage creates a mechanical acceleration of venous blood flow and lymphatic drainage, mechanical breakdown of pathological accumulation (eg, soft tissue calcifications), and passive exercise on soft tissues. By mobilizing the skin, connective tissue, muscle tissue and the periosteum, receptors located in these areas are stimulated, generating afferent electrical impulses. These impulses reach the central nervous system, stimulating the body to react via beneficial reflex mechanisms. The end results are vasodilation (resulting in decreased blood pressure and heart rate), increased arterial blood supply to tissues, muscular tension release and other healthful reactions. The control of increased arterial blood pressure in those with hypertension is an important medical and social challenge. Hypertension is considered to be a major cause of heart attacks and strokes. An interesting fact, however, is that out of all hypertension cases, only 10 percent of patients have an established cause explaining their condition. For example, narrowing of the aorta, adrenal tumors or glomerulonephritis produces hypertension secondarily. In 90 percent of patients, the cause of hypertension is unknown. In such cases, the patient has ?essential hypertension? or EH. Modern ?

Video: Romney refuses to condemn Trump?s birther remarks

>>> in for tamron hall . mitt romney 's vegas style campbell with donald trump . romney headed to vegas where in a few hours he's going to be dining with the donald for a campaign fund rafund-raiser. ramps up his birtherism rhetoric, the latest remarks on cnbc.

>> a lot o questioning his birth certificate , they're questioning the authenticity of his birth certificate . i've been known as being a very smart guy for a long time i don't consider myself birther or not birther but there are major questions.

>> when asked about his association with donald trump , romney refused to condemn those specific remarks.

>> i don't agree with all of the people who support me. my guess is they don't agree with everything i believe in. i need 50.1% or more and i'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.

>> the obama campaign released this web ad , two republican nominees, how john mccain corrected his supporters' offensive remarks about the president in 2008 to romney 's response now.

>> why doesn't he show his birth certificate ? he doesn't have a birth certificate . he may have one, but there's something on that birth certificate , maybe religion, maybe says he's a muslim. i did a great job in getting him to, first of all i haven't seen it i'll look at it later -- i don't need to look at your copy. i loved running. i had a great time. i was doing fantastically in the polls i became friendly with mitt romney .

>> all of this comes as mitt romney prepares to clinch his party's nomination tonight. let's bring in today's "news nation" political panel, peter alexander , national syndicated radio talk show most, michael smerconi smerconish. we understand romney 's campaign has released a statement to you, just moments ago, now being more specific about donald trump and the language that he's using from this morning.

>> reporter: a lot of people asking questions about what mitt romney said on the campaign plane latst night was sufficient and saying what donald trump said he disagreed. here what happens we are hearing specifically from the campaign in the last hour. governor romney has said repeatedly that he believes president obama was born in the united states , the democrats can talk about donald trump all they want. mitt romney is going to talk about jobs. and how he can get our economy moving again. those are the words from andrea saul, spokeswoman for the campaign. the goal, that's been on message recently, focus on jobs, trying to hit the president on the creating a hostile environment creators but as they began the holiday week they were distracted by this from donald trump . as you know, there's a multimillion dollar private fund-raiser with the donald . the timing couldn't be worse for the campaign as they try to make their mess annual one thing and stuck talking about birther movement, claims donald trump is talking about.

>> earlier today donald trump tweeting about all of this. and had this to say. barack obama practically begging mitt romney to disavow the place of the birth movement. he's afraid of it and for good reason. he keeps using senator mccain as an example, however, mccain lost the election. don't let it happen again. steve , as we look at this, and as you're looking at this unfolding before tonight's big campaign cash grab in las vegas , is this the best advice for mitt romney to follow, what donald trump is offering and the visual he's about to present, mitt romney on the same stage, the same arena, as donald trump ?

>> reporter: well, i think unfortunately what we're seeing is why some of us try very hard in the last primary to avoid and obama matchup. we have a president who can't run right now on his record so he's got to run on how to paint mitt romney as outside of the mainstream as a conservative, which he's really not. and then you've got mitt romney , who actually won't run on his record, either. he's got to be the first major candidate for president who was a governor of a state who doesn't run on his own record as governor and that's because his record as governor was liberal and he doesn't want to remind his base on that. he's got to run on obama . and even when donald trump is pimping romney he has to do it by going after obama . we have twoen candidates for the next two months who can't run on their own records and i think that means we're going to see a lot of red her igs like this.

>> steve , you were a newt gingrich supporter. newt gingrich is to appear with mitt romney , donald trump . does that change your opinions about mitt romney moving forward, the fact that newt gingrich is throwing his support behind him and showing up on the campaign trail with him?

>> no, i'm 38 years old, and i think a lot of folks that grew up in younger again rashgeneration, we'r e not just proxies. when they speak for us, we don't check our minds. newt gingrich isn't on the ballot, mitt romney is. it's mitt romney 's responsibility to sell people on voting for him, nobody else .

>> so michael, let me ask you, under what circumstances do you think romney 's association with donald trump could backfire? do you see this igniting the obama base or is this just something some fodder for the next 48 hours that's going to go away after tonight's big event.

>> i think it's a constant, looming source of potential embarrassment. i'm not surprised to hear peter report on the statement from the romney campaign, because they're so controlled, they're so choreographed, so scripted. they've had gaffes of course. but usually they're in control of their message. and so to have the donald , this powder keg on the stage next to mitt romney is the antithesis where they need to be. the observation, there's no political upside. if you're a birther you're already for mitt romney . how his this perceived by independents? that needs be to the constant refrain from now to november. there lies the potential source of em barsment. people say, we've litigated this, why in the world is mitt romney impugning his character by standing with trump after he's tweeting and going on " squawk box " promoting birtherism.

>> promoting that and trying to draw up a correlation of the validity of the president's education. listen to this. this was from this morning on cnbc.

>> he's really stonewalling it when it comes to -- he just doesn't want to give those transcripts. so what is he saying at columbia and harvard and his other college where he supposedly didn't have good marks and got into columbia? what is he saying about place of birth? these are just questions.

>> steve , as this talk is happening from donald trump , again, mitt romney not going to take credit for what some people are saying, however when they support him and show up with him on the same stage, people are going to say, all right, you're a reflection of the company that you keep. what does donald trump bring to romney 's campaign after tonight's event? we're talking about millions of dollars from tonight but is it rogue with newt gingrich ander in to gets into pockets? what's the bottom line?

>> oh, i can assure your audience it's more shallow and basic of an instinct than that. romney has enough money to win the president sy. only so many commercials to buy neen a recession. you're looking at a republican party establishment that doesn't stand nor anything other than we're not democrats. they try to beat democrats, they look at what democrats beat them with and think, we should try that. they see george clooney holding fund-raisers and cool hipsters hanging out with michelle obama at the beyonce concert. they are thatting we should hang out with donald trump and patronize them, they are so stupid, they will vote for us because we're cool. that's what drives this, this is what happens when you stand for nothing is you have to run on cliches and talking points and metaphors and you have to condesce condescend.

>> is romney meeting with sheldon adelson ?

>> reporter: there's a schedule meeting today in las vegas . two of them had some form of conversations during the course of the campaign. sheldon addleson, through the campaign, had been poring newt gingrich with at least $10 million, if not more, try trying to bankroll his campaign, specifically through the supoup pack, winning our future. as we talk about the impact the words of george will , he is owe believiating ignoramus. the gift, the romney campaign's making the bet that we will not be talking about donald trump in october, they feel confidently at the end of the day this is going to come down to jobs. they're going to take money, i would beg to disagree with steeb, the romney campaign believes there is more money out there, and they do need. they're confident this is a $1.5 billion campaign between the two, obama and romney . they think 800 million is what their opponent may raise, they hope to raise 3/4 of a billion dollars and at the end of the day for a lot of people regardless of what you say about donald trump , whatever your opinion is of the timing of this, and it's odd to everybody, for one or two news cycles we're talking about the birther movement and the extremism, not what mitt romney is trying to advocate, they're confident this is going to play out in their favor.

>> gentlemen, thanks so much. appreciate it.

Lisa Loebs Blogs: How I'm Getting Through the Final Month of ...

Thanks for welcoming our celebrity blogger, Lisa Loeb.

Currently expecting her second child in June, the musician, 44, and husband Roey Hershkovitz are already parents to daughter?Lyla Rose, 2.

In addition to her number one single ?Stay (I Missed You),? Loeb also had hits with ?Do You Sleep? and ?I Do.? In the years since, she?s?recorded two children?s albums, written a kids book, done voiceovers, developed an eyewear line and started the nonprofit Camp Lisa Foundation.

She can be found on Facebook and?on Twitter @lisaloeb.

In her most recent blog, Loeb writes about how she?s handling her final month of pregnancy ? and needs your tips on sleeping well these last weeks.

I?m happy to announce that I got over the cold! I played five energetic concerts, plus did a great in-store book signing and mini sing-along with lots of families in attendance at the Whole Foods in Folsom, Calif., and a TV appearance in San Francisco, thanks to some of your hot and sour soup remedy suggestions.

While I was out there on stage ? figuring out how and where to rest my guitar near, but not on my pregnant belly ? my family had a fun weekend in Los Angeles. Now I?m home again, home again, jiggity-jig.

I can?t believe the baby?s arrival is coming so soon. Especially through that head cold and cough, I was reminded of how important it is to take care of myself, as a mom and as a pregnant person and just as a person.

To keep myself together, I exercise regularly, doing strength training twice a week with a knowledgeable trainer. I also walk most days. When it?s not too hot or cold and not too much pollen in the air, even a 30 minute walk outside clears my head, fills my lungs, and warms up my body for more stretching and foam rolling when I get home.

I wish I had time for tai chi, Pilates, ballroom dancing and hiking, but realistically, what I already do seems to do the job. I think it?s important that scheduling not make you more stressed out than you need to be. And, being pregnant, I always make sure the baby?s health is key ? if the doctor says to slow down or stop, then I do, but I always ask if I can stretch or do light walking.

I also eat well, as mentioned before. (I can?t get through a blog without mentioning eating ? like the radicchio, kale, yellow pepper, parmesan cheese, cucumber, avocado salad I just ate for lunch with some pasta and tomato sauce and yes, more cheese.)

I?ve also been trying to keep on top of doing other things to keep my body in check. I get regular prenatal massages to keep the blood flowing and stress out of my jaws and legs and wherever else my body decides to keep it.

I love the HelloMellow body butter that one of my massage therapists created! There are a variety of scents, and I prefer the delicious citrus ones. That also keeps the stretch marks away ? I think using lotion right out of the shower does it too, pregnant or not.

A visiting aesthetician from Dallas, Renee Rouleau, recently treated me to a facial here in Los Angeles. She explained that often pregnant women?s faces become more splotchy with hyperpigmentation. I use sunscreen on my face and body daily, but she gave me some soothing gels, light scrubs, and products to use in conjunction with the moisturizers, cleansers, and other products I normally use as well as some heavy duty masques during the facial, which were really relaxing while they did the job of adding more moisture and clarity to my face.

Although my main focus for staying healthy during pregnancy is getting enough sleep, I?m excited about the new baby, and sometimes during my many trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I end up having a little more trouble going back to sleep.

I?m thinking about what lies ahead: the addition of another little family member, the logistics of the nursery, tying up loose ends with all the projects I?m currently working on, and getting another glass of water ? which also might be tied to getting out of bed all night.

Graciously, Wendy Bellissimo has offered to help with our nursery. Known for her wonderful baby linens and design, we?re turning my office/guest bedroom into the baby?s new room and I can?t wait to see what direction we?re going to choose. At least I?m in good hands! I?m a very lucky mom.

Hope all of the mothers out there had a great Mother?s Day! If anyone has suggestions for sleeping through the night at this point in my pregnancy, I?m all ears!

23 Year Remembrance of Tiananmen Square ? May 26th 1989, Beijing China

Written by Diane Gatterdam

Twenty-three years ago on this day Friday May 26th 1989, even though the square had been fairly quite these past few days, the feeling was of a standoff between the government and the students, nether knowing what the other was going to do next.

?There was an underlying atmosphere of crisis.?
-Shen Tong

Shen Tong went to the square everyday, going from tent to tent talking to the students.

?I talked to my fellow students, I was encouraged. No one knew what was going to happen, but instead of talking about death, people were talking about building a better life for them and for China. They wanted to move forward from what they had achieved.?

?I was proud of my generation.?
- Shen Tong

Students had set up little camps for themselves, with pillows and blankets and mattresses that had been donated by various sourced. Those on the perimeter tended to have better provisions that those in the center, who were harder to reach.

Many people were reading, some were preparing for the TOEFL exams so they could go abroad to study, others read novels or fliers called ?fast news? which were printed by the hunger striker leadership at the monument. A lot of students listened to music on personal stereos, and others brought portable stereos so music was heard all over the square. Two of the most popular singers were Qi Qin and Cui Jian, called the John Lennon of China.

One of the food stations on the Square

After dark brought impromptu concerts on the square, bringing a sense of joy.

In Chai Lings camp, they tried to carry out plans to push for a special meeting of the National People?s Congress, divide the soldiers, launch workers? strikes, give speeches in other cities, print leaflets and set up a university in the square.

On the Square and on various school campuses, posters announced a new resolution from the Autonomous Federation of Beijing Students about a ?Great Global Chinese Protest Day? to held on May 28th.

At Beida a wall poster signed by Wang Dan proposed a prolonged battle to promote democracy in China. Wang called for the formation of four groups of 200 students. The groups would take turns demonstrating on the Square.

On May 26th came the formal dismissal of Zhao Ziyang, but it seemed that the conservatives had lost too, because they were still unable to control the situation.

Bol Bachchan trailer takes Twitter by storm

Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan is one of the most anticipated films of 2012.

Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan trailer is out and has been trending on Twitter. After Golmaal and Singham's fame, director Rohit Shetty is back with a bang in his latest comedy flick Bol Bachchan. The trailer looks very colourful with an interesting mix of action and comedy. In the two minute promo, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn are seen in promising roles.

While Ajay Devgn shows his humorous side with his bad English in the film, Abhishek Bachchan pulls off the gay character quite convincingly. This is the second time that Abhishek will be playing a gay after Dostana (2008).

The trailer also shows Krushna Abhishek of Comedy Circus fame in a meaty role. Rohit was so impressed by his performance that he decided to give Krushna a role in Bol Bachchan.

The film, which is inspired by Amol Palekar starrer 1978 film Golmaal, is being directed by Rohit Shetty and stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai in lead roles.

Abhishek Bachchan, who is playing double role in the film, is excited that the film will hit screens on July 6.

"Back on the sets of Bol Bachchan. Few more days and it's a wrap on the film. Releases 6th July. Excitement is becoming!," Bachchan posted on Twitter. After his stint as an action hero in Players and Game, Bachchan will be back in comedy with Bol Bachchan after three years.

Doctors report rise in kids eating detergent packs

A warning label is attached to a package of Tide laundry detergent packets in Houston on Thursday, May 24, 2012. (AP) ? Miniature laundry detergent packets arrived on store shelves in recent months as an alternative to bulky bottles and messy spills. But doctors across the country say children are confusing the tiny, brightly colored packets with candy and swallowing them.

Nearly 250 cases have been reported this year to poison control centers. Though they remain a tiny fraction of the thousands of poisoning calls received every year about household medicines and other cleaning supplies, doctors are concerned. The symptoms they see in connection with ingesting the packets ? such as nausea and breathing problems ? are more severe than typical detergent poisoning.

"We're not quite sure why it's happening," said Dr. Kurt Kleinschmidt, a Dallas toxicologist and professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. "But we've clearly had some kids who have become much more ill. We look at these pods as being clearly more dangerous than the standard detergent."

Tide, Purex and other detergent manufacturers introduced different versions of the packets earlier this year. The lightweight plastic packets contain a single-use amount of detergent that dissolves in water. They're intended to be dropped into a laundry machine in place of liquid or powder detergent.

Several poison control centers started to get calls from parents about the packets in March and April, soon after they were introduced in earnest. Texas reported 71 instances of exposure this year, all but one in March or later. Missouri reported 25 cases related to the packets, and Illinois reported 26.

"If you look at the Tide Pods, they're bright blue and bright red and they look very similar to some of the ribbon candy," said Julie Weber, director of the Missouri Poison Control Center in St. Louis.

Paul Fox, a spokesman for Procter & Gamble, the parent company of Tide, says all cleaning products need to be handled carefully. He said Tide was working with poison control centers and advocacy groups to make sure parents know more about the risks.

"The packs themselves are safe, regardless of who manufactures them, provided that they are used for their intended purpose," Fox said. "The risk becomes when they're left like any other household product within reach of small, inquisitive hands."

Doctors said the packets appear to be more dangerous than just swallowing liquid or powder detergent.

Dr. Michael Buehler of the Carolinas Poison Center said there were several possible reasons why, including that the packets carry a full cup's worth of detergent in bite-size form or the detergent in the packet might activate more quickly or differently.

"The children get sicker, more severe, and they do this quicker than what we've seen with standard liquid laundry exposure," Buehler said.

In suburban Philadelphia, a 17-month-old boy was home with his mother when she "turned her back for the proverbial second," said Dr. Fred Henretig of the Poison Control Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The boy climbed up on a dresser and popped a detergent package in his mouth, Henretig said.

The boy vomited, became drowsy and started coughing. He was eventually put on a ventilator for a day and hospitalized for a week, Henretig said.

Poison control centers in several states have issued or are preparing warnings for local emergency rooms and parents. The Indiana Poison Control Center was expected to advise parents in coming days about the packets' risk.

One child near Fort Wayne, Ind., tried to eat a packet and nearly had to be placed on a ventilator, said Dr. Brent Furbee, medical director of the Indiana Poison Control Center. Furbee did not know the child's age.

"Detergents can cause some irritation, but haven't been particularly threatening to kids," Furbee said. "But this looks like it's going to be a bigger deal."

Detergent packets are common in Europe, but are a recent addition to the American market, Fox said. He said Tide Pods had done well against other detergent packets, but it was too soon to say if shoppers appeared to be replacing liquid and powder detergent with the packs.

Kiem Ho, vice president for marketing at Purex, said its UltraPacks packaging comes with warning labels to keep out of reach of children.

"This is a new form of laundry product and we will continue to join other manufacturers to safeguard and educate consumers on the correct storage and use of these products in the home" Ho said in a statement.

Military leaders, Clinton push for sea treaty

(AP) ? Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and the nation's top military leaders pleaded Wednesday for Senate approval of a long-spurned high seas treaty, arguing that the pact will boost U.S. national security and create much-needed American jobs.

In a rare joint appearance before Congress, Clinton, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, made the case for the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, which was concluded in 1982 and has been in force since 1994. Republican opposition has stalled the pact for years and was on bold display at the hearing. The United States is the only major nation that has refused to sign the treaty, which has been endorsed by 161 countries and the European Union.

"We need to get off the sidelines and start taking advantage of the great deal that the Convention offers the United States and our business community," Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

In an impassioned plea, Clinton dismissed opposition to the pact as based on "ideology and mythology" and pointed out that the treaty has the backing of Republican and Democratic presidents, including former President George W. Bush; businesses, the energy and shipping industry and environmental groups.

She pointed out that U.S. oil and gas companies now have the technology to explore the extended continental shelf, which could be more than one and half the size of Texas and rich in resources. Those companies, however, are seeking the greatest legal certainty from the treaty before investing millions.

Point by point, she refuted the criticism of the treaty, such as concerns that it is a U.N. pact.

"That means the black helicopters are on their way," she said of the unfounded fear.

She pleaded with lawmakers to listen to businesses, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the military, strong proponents of the pact. "The cost of not joining is increasing," she said.

Military leaders past and present contend that the treaty would strengthen U.S. naval power, giving Americans favorable navigational rights and the freedom to use military force, if necessary. Among those are the right of transit through international straits and the right of passage through foreign territorial seas.

"Joining the convention would provide us another way to stave off conflict with less risk of escalation," Dempsey told the committee.

Panetta pointed out that the United States has one of the longest coastlines, the largest extended continental shelf and has more to gain from approval of the treaty than any other country.

"If we are not at the table, then who will defend our interests?" Panetta asked.

The treaty has languished for years due to opposition from those who it would undermine U.S. sovereignty, and in recent months challenges from tea party Republicans. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, acknowledged the difficulty in moving the treaty, especially in an election year. He announced at the start of the hearing that he would not push for a Senate vote before the November elections.

But he insisted that approval of the treaty is necessary because the United States "has lived by the rules, but we don't shape the rules."

Kerry cast the issue in terms of the U.S. losing out to growing military powers China and Russia, which is claiming oil and other resources in the Arctic.

The treaty has exposed divisions within the Republican Party. Pro-business groups led by the Chamber strongly support ratification of the pact while tea partyers argue against it. The fracture was evident last week when House Republicans, ignoring the pleas of the Chamber, voted to limit funds for enforcement of the treaty as part of a far-reaching defense bill.

Conservative Republicans expressed the strongest opposition to the pact, arguing that it would force the United States to redistribute wealth through royalties from offshore drilling and impose regulations on greenhouse gases.

"This treaty would subordinate American sovereignty to the United Nations, impose an international tax on U.S. energy production that would raise costs for American families, and act as a backdoor Kyoto Protocol that could allow foreign nations to regulate U.S. energy emissions," Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said in a statement.

Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, said the high-seas treaty has "Kyoto written all over it."

Twenty-six Republican senators have signed a letter circulated by DeMint vowing to oppose the treaty if it gets to the Senate for a vote. The senators said in the letter that they are "particularly concerned that United States sovereignty could be subjugated in many areas" to an authority representing various countries.

"By its current terms, the Law of the Sea Convention encompasses economic and technology interests in the deep sea, redistribution of wealth from developed to undeveloped nations, freedom of navigation in the deep sea and exclusive economic zones which may impact maritime security, and environmental regulation over virtually all sources of pollution," the senators wrote.

    'Revenge' Cast Promises Explosive Finale

'They get themselves into a little pickle. I'm not gonna lie,' series star Emily VanCamp tells MTV News.
    By Christina Garibaldi

A day of reckoning is upon fans of ABC's hit show "Revenge," whose season finale airs Wednesday (May 23). All season, fans have been following along as Emily Thorne, played by Emily VanCamp, moved out to the Hamptons to avenge her father's death against the Grayson family, who betrayed her and her father. Many are wondering which, if any, loose ends will be tied up in the finale as Emily closes in on the final stages of her revenge. As any avid viewer of the series knows, however, there will certainly be obstacles in Emily's way.

"There are many things happening. I mean, Emily goes through a real major fight, a physical fight," Madeleine Stowe, who plays Victoria, told MTV News at the ABC upfronts. "Victoria is hell-bent on destroying Conrad and getting the truth out. She wants to redeem herself from the terrible things that she's done, and all I can say is that it ends very explosively and with Victoria trying to do the right thing."

Few details have been released about the finale, but Emily will fight to the death with a mysterious white-haired man who has kidnapped her closest ally, Nolan.

"I can't spill too much, but Emily is very crafty, so she can usually get herself out of those situations," VanCamp said. "But yeah, they get themselves into a little pickle, I'm not gonna lie."

VanCamp's co-star and fiancé on the show, Joshua Bowman, confirmed that there will be a death in the episode and urged fans to "expect the unexpected." And one of the biggest questions still to be answered is who Emily will end up with at the end of the season. We have been torn between the love triangle that has unraveled this season, so will she end up with fan favorite Jack or will she follow her plan and tie the knot with Bowman's character, Daniel, in the finale?

"You won't see a wedding in the finale, but [at the] beginning of season two, you are meant to. I don't know who that's to," Bowman revealed. "Me and Emily, their relationship, it's a bit rocky, very rocky."

Are you excited for the "Revenge" finale? Let us know in the comments.

Potty dance at Costco: Can a good mom let 5-year-old ?go? alone?

Costco bathroom is the scene of another free-range parenting controversy. If a 5-year-old is doing the potty dance in the check-out line, does a good mom allow her kid to use the bathroom alone?

When a 5-year-old did the potty dance in a Costco check-out line, one mother allowed her daughter to go to the toilet alone, courting some good mother vs. bad mother controversy in the process.

But in fact it is still amazing to me how wild the public imagination has become and how eager it is to imagine the most extremely unlikely, horrifying scenarios. It really is mass psychosis. Dear Free-Range Kids: I received my first verbal hand slap regarding my child raising. I have a 5-year-old daughter, a 1-year-old son, and a third on the way. A few weeks ago I was checking out at Costco when my daughter, Elayna, said she had to go to the bathroom. I was at a register near the end where the bathroom was in plain sight, so I told her to go. (She has been allowed to use public bathrooms by herself for some time now, although I am always close by. We are also at Costco once a week, so she is well acquainted with the bathroom.) I finished checking out and pushed my cart and son over to the bathroom and waited for her to come out.

    A 5-year-old alone in a public restroom?

After a few minutes, I began to wonder what was taking so long. I wasn?t worried, just curious. Then a woman came out and asked if I was waiting for a little girl in a dress. I said yes, and she told me that my daughter was washing her hands. She laughed and said, ?She seems to really like the hand dryers because she?s washed her hands at least three times.? I laughed, too, and a moment later my daughter came running out, holding up her hands for me to smell because they were so nice and clean. She was very proud of herself.

    But what about the predators?

Later that evening, I told my husband, who thought it was funny. The next day, I told my mom, who also thought it was funny. A few days later, my mom told the women she worked with who were absolutely shocked and horrified that I let my daughter go in by herself: ?What if someone had taken her??

My mom tried to point out that I was close enough to see the bathroom the entire time and no one could have gotten past me with my daughter. She pointed out that in a busy place like Costco, it was very unlikely that anyone could kidnap a screaming little girl. She explained that my daughter had been allowed to use public bathrooms herself for the last six months, and that she is a smart, capable child. She also explained that, so far, the only issue Elayna had run into was that some restroom doors are very heavy and hard to open, but that was why Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa was always near by. Grandpa learned very quickly that Elayna could go in by herself and, if he was concerned, he could always ask one of the women coming or going to check on her, and these ?dangerous? strangers were always happy to help.

Would a good mom let her daughter go to the bathroom alone?

The women at my mom?s work were not mollified, and continued to go down the list of possible things that could have happened.

But they didn?t?happen. What happened was that I was able to check out without having to get out of line. My daughter didn?t have to do the potty dance while waiting for me. I didn?t have to abandon my shopping cart while juggling my son and purse just to stand and watch her do something she?s been capable of doing since she was two. And my daughter got a little boost of pride and self-confidence by doing something herself. But the overall consensus seems to be that I am a bad mother. I guess I?ll just have to live with it. ?- Hannah

(AP) ? Couch potatoes everywhere can pause and thank Eugene Polley for hours of feet-up channel surfing. His invention, the first wireless TV remote, began as a luxury, but with the introduction of hundreds of channels and viewing technologies it has become a necessity.

Just ask anyone who's lost a remote.

Polley died of natural causes Sunday at a suburban Chicago hospital, said Zenith Electronics spokesman John Taylor. The former Zenith engineer was 96.

In 1955, if you wanted to switch TV channels from "Arthur Godfrey" to "Father Knows Best," you got up from your chair, walked across the room and turned a knob. Clunk. Clunk. Clunk.

Or you could buy a new Zenith television with Flash-Matic tuning. The TV came with a green ray gun-shaped contraption with a red trigger. The advertising promised "TV miracles." The "flash tuner" was "Absolutely harmless to humans!" Most intriguing of all: "You can even shut off annoying commercials while the picture remains on the screen."

Polley was proud of his invention even late in life, Taylor said. He showed visitors at his assisted-living apartment his original Flash-Matic and how it had evolved into the technology of today. "He was a proud owner of a flat-screen TV and modern remote," Taylor said. "He always kept his original remote control with him."

Polley's Flash-Matic pointed a beam of light at photo cells in the corners of the television screen. Each corner activated a different function, turning the picture and sound off and on, and changing the channels.

Chicago native Polley and fellow Zenith engineer Robert Adler were honored in 1997 with an Emmy for their work in pioneering TV remotes. In 2009, he received the Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award from the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers.

Beyond keeping TV viewers pinned to their chairs, Polley's invention unchained technology from mechanical knobs and levers, opening vast possibilities, said Richard Doherty, CEO of suburban New York-based technology assessment and market research company Envisioneering.

"Without his idea you might not have gotten to the Internet," Doherty said. "It allowed you to go beyond the physical dial. It set the pace for dozens for follow-on inventions that go beyond the physical."

During his 47-year career as an engineer, Polley earned 18 U.S. patents. At Zenith, he worked his way up from the stockroom, according to a biography from Lincolnshire, Ill.-based LG Electronics, which owns Zenith. Polley also worked on radar advances for the U.S. Department of Defense during World War II. He helped develop the push-button radio for automobiles and the video disk, a forerunner of today's DVD.

Polley's invention made life easier ? perhaps too easy ? for a generation of children.

"In my house, the remote control was named Rick," said Doherty. "'Rick, change it to Channel 7. Rick, change it to Channel 2. Rick, go back to the ballgame.' It kept me fitter as a kid."
