It can be extremely harmful when a nursing home and its staff negligently fail to provide a resident with proper care. Sadly, nursing home negligence can sometimes even result in a resident's death. Thus, it is very important for nursing homes to make sure to provide all of their residents with proper care. No nursing home resident should have to lose his or her life because his or her facility and its staff acted negligently.
Recently, a wrongful death case has arisen in Illinois involving allegations of nursing home negligence. The case involves a man who reportedly stayed at a nursing home in Illinois. The man reportedly died in October of 2010.
The man's family alleges that the nursing home and its staff neglected the man and failed to provide him with proper care. According to the family, this alleged nursing home negligence caused the man to suffer dehydration, a perforated colon and an infection and contributed to the man's death.
The man's family has brought a lawsuit in Illinois against the nursing home in connection to these allegations. In this lawsuit, the man's family reportedly is asking for damages.
As this case underscores, nursing home negligence can be extremely harmful to residents. Thus, one hopes that nursing homes and their staff make sure to provide proper care to their residents. One also hopes that nursing homes and their staff are held accountable when they commit negligence and such negligence results in a resident getting hurt or a resident dying.
