DIY Institute: Green Building Series | Community Forklift

?

As you may know, Community Forklift is located in the Port Towns area, just outside NE DC near the historic Port of Bladensburg.? For centuries, this area has been an important center for commerce and industry.? In colonial times, before runoff filled the port with silt, tall ships would pull up to the docks and load up with barrels of tobacco.? Today, the area is crisscrossed by train tracks, and hundreds of suppliers and tradespeople operate out of industrial parks along the Kenilworth Avenue corridor.??

But the next chapter is being written in Port Towns history, as we receive national attention for the growing number of green businesses and activity here.? One block from Community Forklift, you?ll find ECO City Farms, an educational, not-for-profit enterprise designed to serve as a prototype for sustainable local farming.? They sum it up this way:? ?We grow great food, farms, and farmers.??

Check out this great series they are offering right now!? It is open to the public, and sounds really fun.
